quilt shows

well, that was definitely a better show than all the rest i’ve had recently!  and the hugs!!  wow!  great therapy! ^_^

so, now, it’s time to prepare for the next one- and i really do have some kits to cut!  sold a few mini’s that i must mail this week, besides some others i’d like to replenish before i head over to murphys.   also have some financial matters to which i must attend.  need to prepare and protect myself for when they come and take the rv away.  boo hoo.  have decided i just need to let it go.  money better spent keeping the homestead afloat!!    i’m working  my way thru it – i think i’ve overcome the shame of it (since i’m confessing outloud here!).  now it’s just a lot of details that must get handled – like credit card processors, etc.  may not be able to do cc at the next show.    then again, it may all go as quickly and easily as the last go round!  and truth is – this too shall pass!!  all is and remains well.

so, if you couldn’t get to santa clara to give me a hug – come on out to murphys next weekend – if it doesn’t rain!!

just a short update.  man, am i sick of bad shows!!!  other than that – please come and give me a hug at piqf!!

thanks,

j

did a long shot and it worked out!  so, i will be in plymouth this weekend and will (i say) make enough to save the old rv! ^_^  life is good!  more than one vendor this past weekend asked me if i was going and kind of indicated there might still be room for me.  as it turns out, i was able to get a half booth – what the heck, i deal with that in houston!!!  no reason i can’t make it work here! ^_^

so, come on down! or up! or over! ^_^  there’s also a big wine festival in the area, so you can really have a good time!  and here are some really silly pins i am going to be selling.  making them for the big witch show in sac mid oct, but will take them this weekend.

now aren’t those just too stupid silly! ^_^

i have traveled many a mile since last we spoke, i think.  given my feeble memory, i think i haven’t posted since before i left  for walla walla – so that means many many miles!

just returned from the show in danville, which,  i’m sorry to say was not great for me.  did fine yesterday, kind of died today.  not good.  so, the saga continues with regard to the rv and can i manage to hang onto it until i pull myself out of this slump.  stay tuned.

now it’s time to start making jewelry for the big craft show in sac in a few weeks.  and i also must do some prep for piqf as there are a few things i am out of!  sooo, going to have to keep the nose to the grindstone during these next few weeks.

and on top of all of that – i’m a year older today!  well, it actually happened yesterday.  where did those 70 years go???? ^_^

oh, did have a very lovely visit with a highschool classmate whom i hadn’t really seen for over 50 years!  he and his wife graciously housed and fed me and helped me celebrate last night.  how nice!!

here’s the latest pin i just posted on artfire.  also put the pink one on yesterday.  oops, just remembered – i meant to make matching earrings before i posted.  dang.  hate it when that happens. ^_^

and that’s about all the news for today.  just one week before i head up to walla walla for the next show.  oh how i pray it’s a good one.

here is what i just posted on artfire – a full set!  it’s a pin that can be worn as a pendant and the necklace and  matching earrings are included.  i also include the adapter that allows you to convert the pin to a pendant – my own design.

one down and 3 to go – pins or sets in process, that is.  having a really good time with this. ^_^  however, next week i must get my act together in the other part of the business!  get ready for walla walla!

love and beauty   www.artfullyapplique.com   http://jrixman.etsy.com

sure wish i could say the trip was successful.  darn.  another show that hardly anyone attended.  not good for sales.  plus, way too many vendors!  guilds just don’t realize that while they might make money by having more vendors, the vendors won’t make money and won’t return.  and will spread the word to warn others!  i mean, 14 vendors!  may not sound like so many, but if the attendance last year was in the 300 range – well, let’s just say this: the ideal ratio is ONE vendor per every 100 people in the door.  do the math – that = just 3!!  ok, so seldom does that rule apply.  still, the max for that show should remain at 6.  i was not the only unhappy camper!

and so, onward and upward, i say.  i remain optimistic about the jewelry, despite appearances.  i just need to give it more presence in the booth and to keep doing it till folks get it!!  so, i will come up with a new way to display it at the next show – in walla walla.  and, in this time at home, will create more.  more of those encrusted pins!  have a cabachon glued down and ready to go – will see what i can accomplish today.  also planning to do some cleaning with the intention of creating some space!!  and not just in the physical sense! ^_^

today is the day – i leave to spend the night at ruth’s and we set up for the outdoor show in the morning.  soooo, come on down! or over, or up! ^_^  the weather is going to be perfect – cool!  it will be wonderful to walk around and view all the lovely quilts hung all over town.  and – visit the craft faire and farmers’ market in walnut park!  i mean, doesn’t get much better than that! ^_^  show is 11 – 5.  park is located at petaluma blvd and D st.  lots of lovely trees – and restrooms!

i look forward to seeing you there!  will have lots of jewelry and some fabric – in addition to my usual wares (applique patterns and kits).  so, stop buy, say hi and check it all out.  offering half-yards at $3 or 5 for $12!!  all from my stash.

ok, nobody leaves till i find out who stole july!!!  yikes!  guess that’s what happens when you start working away and sometimes forget to  come up for air! ^_^  so, here are some of the things i will be taking to petaluma – the very latest that are not quite finished – need clasps.

ok, that’s enough of that! ^_^  you will just have to come to petaluma to see it all.

well, i am home for a couple weeks before i head to petaluma for their one day outdoor show.  as a result – of both things – i am making more jewelry.  while there are quilts hung all over the city that day, so it is a quilt ’show’ in that sense – the vendor mall is more officially a ‘craft fair’.  sooo, since my earrings remain invisible with the applique, i am going to devote at least one whole table to just jewelry, i think.  we shall see how it goes in terms of ‘production’ here!  so far today, i have strung the following 3 necklace’s and created earrings for 2.  i had already made a pair of er that will go with the 3rd necklace (once i remake them on silver headpins!).

lav-turq necki guess i am going to have to study up on how to properly use my wonderful camera!  having a lot of trouble with color and getting enough light, etc.  the turqoise shows, but the very dark purple just looks black.  none of the necklaces have a clasp yet, nor are the earrings complete – no hooks.

don’t know if you can even see this kind of pale green.  these beads look like marble.  those are the earrings that now must have silver hooks.

dark gold neck

these look ok, color-wise – mostly dark golds and a little brown.

of course, mr. pepe is currently sleeping on top of all of them.
